Miscarriage to Miracle: How Tess Annique Souray Unlocked Motherhood With Pregmune

Hey mama,

Let’s dive into an inspiring journey that’s equal parts heart-wrenching and empowering. We had the chance to sit down with Tess Annique Souray, a model, content creator, and now, a proud mama who’s been through it all on her path to motherhood. Tess’s story is a testament to resilience, self-advocacy, and the power of never giving up, especially when the odds seem stacked against you.

Meet Tess

“I’m a model and content creator specializing in lifestyle and fashion. I started sharing my path to motherhood by documenting my six-year IVF journey. I’ve done three retrievals, two transfers, had one 10-week loss with a PGT embryo, and recently welcomed my first baby boy in January! We’re over the moon. I love being a mama, although it took us quite a long time to get there.”

A Heartbreaking Loss

After a devastating miscarriage at 29, Tess knew something was wrong. “We had a healthy embryo transferred. The first two ultrasounds were perfect. When we went to the 10-week ultrasound, there was no longer a heartbeat. One of the most heartbreaking times of my life. I was a shell of a human being.”

Despite all the standard tests coming back normal, Tess wasn’t satisfied. She sought multiple second opinions—seven, to be exact—until one doctor suggested exploring blood clotting disorders, leading her to discover Pregmune.

Discovering Pregmune

Pregmune is a comprehensive autoimmune test that dives deep into why fertility treatments might not be working. Tess explains, “They take your full history and draw so much blood work between you and your partner. Eight weeks later, you get a comprehensive report back. What I love about the report is that it’s so easy to read: here’s what we tested you for, here are your results, and here is what we suggest based on your results. I learned so much from this.”

Through Pregmune, Tess found out she had blood clotting disorders: PAI 4G-4G and antiphospholipid syndrome. “Their recommendation for me was to take a blood-thinning injection every day whenever I’m pregnant along with baby aspirin. This was something I had no idea that I needed because it didn’t come up in the preliminary testing after my miscarriage at the fertility clinic.

A New Approach to Pregnancy

Armed with new knowledge, Tess approached her next pregnancy differently. “I started the blood-thinning injection two days before my embryo transfer. I took it throughout my pregnancy along with baby aspirin. Other than that, I didn’t do anything differently. I was a high-risk pregnancy due to my blood-thinning disorders and IVF status, so I saw a Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialist (MFM). I had the most wonderful pregnancy though; I was so incredibly blessed.”

Advocating for Yourself

One of the biggest takeaways from Tess’s journey is the importance of being your own advocate. “Even the best doctor in the world won’t care as much as you do about your journey to your family. You have to do the homework and ask all the questions. I trusted my gut instinct when I felt like there was more to my miscarriage than just ‘bad luck.’ I’m so grateful for Pregmune because it gave me the answers I was looking for. It took me seven second opinions to get there, but I didn’t stop until I did. And now we have a happy, healthy baby boy. I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat.”

Your Journey, Your Advocacy

Tess’s story is a reminder that while the journey to motherhood can be fraught with challenges, being proactive and advocating for yourself can make all the difference. If you’re facing difficulties in getting or staying pregnant, consider looking into comprehensive autoimmune testing like Pregmune. Don’t be afraid to seek multiple opinions and trust your instincts. You’re not alone in this, and sometimes, the answers you need are just a test away.
